A lil' Farm Time

One of the most refreshing places to visit is "The Poor Farm" out where Nanny and Gene live, for so many reasons. The older Braylin gets the more NATURAL she seems to be out on their terrain. She LOVES watching the cows, looking for sticks, jumping off of things, and today she even got to play with a dog who was visiting from down the street. Her name was Lulu. Braylin called her "Woo-Loo" (so precious!).  She DID NOT want to go inside for lunch and she DID NOT want to go home. She was perfectly entertained by outside things!

It's good to take a slow down every once in a while and see that she is just as happy (even more) without her toys, electronics, and ride-ons. Ahhhh... what a breath of fresh air.

Today Gene gave me a little "history" about how he learned to tell time on a clock at about Braylin's age.  We also talked about how they kept their freshly drawn milk cold (cool) after milking each morning and night. They didn't have electricity until he was 11 years old! The milk, cream, and butter went into a shallow water pan (usually in the window) with wet towels laid over them. The outside breeze helped act like an air conditioner and kept those types of goods cool for the day.

See?? We love our visits for SO many reasons!!! We learn something new almost every visit.
